Economist Romina Radonshiqi said that in Albania, 80% of the couple’s income should be shared to cover family expenses.
Invited to speak on Euronews Albania, she said that this is recommended for families with an average or above-average income.
“70%-80% of the couples’ money should be shared to cover family expenses. This is recommended for families that have an average or above average income, while for families that have a low income, a hybrid approach cannot be recommended as it is insufficient for a couple to then have some money set aside to do whatever they want with it because then there will be problems at the end of the month regarding covering a household’s basic expenses. In these types of situations, the couple’s monthly income is put together in a shared pool and usually, there is no money left for each partner to spend on their own account,” – she said.
