The MP of the Democratic Party, Lefter Geshtenja, requested verification from the Files Authority, after which it turned out that there was no connection with the former State Security.

Through a post on Facebook, Geshtenja wrote that each of the characters of the active political life should start from themselves before asking this of the opponent.

“I officially applied to the Records Authority to verify my profile and that of my family members. The answer came: NO connection with the former State Security, neither I nor my family members! I stand by the principle that we should start with ourselves, before asking the opponent. Being clean is not about the law but about morality! Albanians don’t need files to be opened if those who run the country don’t have the courage to verify their own name!” wrote Geshtenja.
