“Kosovo is ready for an agreement”, Slovenian Deputy PM visits Prishtina

Deputy Prime Minister and head of Slovenian diplomatic relations, Tanja Fajon, is heading to Prishtina for an official this Monday.

After the meeting with her Kosovar counterpart, Donika Gervalla, Fajon spoke about Slovenia’s position and expectations regarding the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.

“We are all concerned about security risks in the Balkans, we want a strong Balkans and a strong Kosovo. In terms of the tensions in the north, I said that Kosovo should try to normalize relations. Let the negotiations begin, to talk about the EU-sponsored proposal regarding the complete normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia” – said Tanja Fajon.

The Foreign Minister of Kosovo, Donika Gervalla, also spoke on this specific topic. She also maintained that Kosovo is ready for an agreement. She reiterated the Kosovar position on the formation of the Serb-majority association but also mentioned possible compromises for minorities only within the final agreement.

In addition to the dialogue, the two ministers also spoke about the relations between the two countries. The guest said that Slovenia and Kosovo have very strong ties, which will continue, while he guaranteed support from Slovenia for Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe.

Fajon was also received by President Vjosa Osmani and Speaker of the Parliament, Glauk Konjufca.
