Former senior police chief, Shemsi Prenci, commented on the statement of the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, who announced that they will deposit in SPAK files that contain new evidence related to the tragic events that took place on January 21, 12 years ago, where 4 protesters lost their lives.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, as he considered it an irresponsible statement, he took a dig at minister Ulsi Manja, telling him that he is a character clearly labeled in the 184 files. He also said that all this is happening because of the elections that will take place on May 14.

“An irresponsible statement made by a justice minister. When we consider that Ulsi Manja is the most tagged character in videos and audios in relation to file no. 184. Regarding the January 21st audio-recording, I would say that in political terms it is a smokescreen at election time. He has just thrown it out there for consumption in the pro-government cauldron, since for 10 years the entire Albanian judiciary, taken hostage by the left, has tried and used all methods to hide the acts of abuse of public funds, but they did nothing for January 21, to give justice to the families of the 4 victims.

All they did was give them some roses, but in terms of bringing justice, they didn’t move a single stone. Manja is selling Albanians this idea that they will now cause mayhem regarding this incident. In 2021, the General Prosecutor’s Office, due to the language used by the prime minister towards high state officials, has had the entire tax to investigate from the prime minister to the simplest policeman,” said Prenci.
