The warnings of the Security Council of North Macedonia about possible tensions on February 4 and the calls of President Stevo Pendarovski to stop the entry of a considerable number of Bulgarians, who are known to have made irredentist statements about the neighboring country, have caused fear, debate and numerous public statements from experts and analysts in the Republic of North Macedonia.

Security experts fear that on February 4, when the Macedonian-Bulgarian revolutionary Goce Dellchev’s birthday is expected to be celebrated, various secret structures that are motivated by the Russian secret services will open fire and trigger a clash between the two nations.

“The president’s decision to ban the entry of high-risk persons would be a fair and preventive stance… Macedonia is currently very interested and obliged to have good relations with Bulgaria, and in this present situation, the Russian secret services are very interested in undermining this process, while the consequences can be extremely negative if the state does not intervene and prevent this in time”, said Bashkim Selmani, security expert.

Professor Zllate Dimovski said that the weight that was given to the case of beating the secretary of the Bulgarian club is a classic act of provocation, which will not be the last.

“We have come to a point, where for a citizen who has no special function in the state, he is the secretary of an organization, a plane comes to take him for medical treatment as if something extraordinary just happened. This is a classic act of provocation…I really don’t know how we should behave when we see a car with Bulgarian license plates or a Bulgarian citizen in the future… To talk to you or not to talk to you at all so as to not provoke them because even if we are not guilty we always have to let go. I can’t understand this”, said Dimovski.
