The Border Police of Rinas has intensified measures for the identification and legal punishment of those citizens who abandon minor children, in EU countries or in other countries, with the aim of seeking asylum.
The police informs that they have prosecuted a 24-year-old man, for willingly abandoning his 16-year-old brother, in order to seek asylum in Germany.
During the month of January 2023, the Border Police of Rinas prosecuted a 47-year-old man, after he had sent his 15-year-old minor son illegally, in order to seek asylum in England.
“In this framework, criminal proceedings have been initiated for the criminal offense of “Abandonment of minor children”, citizen A. P., 24 years old, resident in Kukës. This citizen, on 11.02.2023, returned as an ordinary passenger from Germany to Albania and during the in-depth interview by the Border Police of Rinas it turned out that he had willingly abandoned his 16-year-old younger brother in Germany, who then had applied for asylum in Germany. As part of these measures, on January 14, the Border Police of Rinas also prosecuted citizen S. D., 47 years old, resident of Fushë Krujë.
The proceedings against him began because his 15-year-old son has returned as a deportee from the United Kingdom, and during the in-depth interview it turned out that the citizen S. D. had illegally sent his minor son to England, in order to seek asylum, while this citizen himself was located in Albania,” the police announced.
