Kosovo celebrated its 15th anniversary of Independence, through a solemn session that took place in Parliament where President Osmani, Prime Minister Kurti and the President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, gave their respective speeches.

The declaration of Independence of Kosovo on February 17, 2008 was the crowning of a long and difficult journey for the citizens of Kosovo.

For centuries, the Albanians of Kosovo suffered acts of violence, terror and ethnic cleansing, but today, for 15 years, they have had their own state, even though some nations have not recognized it yet.

On this 15th anniversary, citizens celebrate with the hope that the conflict with Serbia will have a solution. The flag of Kosovo was raised in the early hours of the morning, where President Vjosa Osmani, Prime Minister Kurti and President of Albania Bajram Begaj were also present.

Then they paid homage at the Prekazi cemetery and paid respects at the grave of former president Ibrahim Rugova.

In the parliament of Kosovo on this marked day, a solemn session took place, where the anthem was played as well as the sounds of the song Baresha by the well-known singer Nexhmije Pagarusha. In her speech before the Assembly, President Osmani explained that Kosovo has strengthened as a state, and she also touched on the dialogue with Serbia.

Kosovo’s independence was also congratulated by US President Joe Biden, who emphasized mutual recognition. Greetings were also extended by French President Emmanuel Macron and other world leaders.
