Seismologist Rrapo Ormeni listed in an interview for Euronews Albania the cities most at risk from earthquakes in Albania.

At a time when the earthquakes on the Turkish-Syrian border destroyed entire cities and left behind tens of thousands of victims and thousands more missing with numbers that keep on growing, he said that the Adriatic coast, namely the cities of Vlora, Lushnja, Elbasan, Dibra and Leskovik are the most seismic areas in our country.

“The seismological map that we had, the old one, had areas with low intensities, and when the intensity is determined, it is not only a job for engineers, it is also a political job. Remember that the engineer is free to determine the intensity as much as he can from the calculations,” Ormeni said.

The seismologist added that the seismic intensity or risk is proposed by them, but approved by Parliament.
