Fisnik Ismaili, the author and creator of Kosovo’s Independence monument, “New Born”, shared this year’s theme and message on the country’s 15th anniversary of independence.
Ismaili said that this year, there are fewer colors, there are only those of the flag, blue and yellow, but nevertheless, an important detail can’t be missed, and that is the fact that the place of the letters has changed.
“It is not the first time that we have played with the letters, it has happened other times too, but ‘New Born’ as a monument from the very first day, has always conveyed a message that Kosovo has given to the world, due to the fact that it is written in English and people from all over the world can understand it, even those who don’t speak English understand what ‘new’ and ‘born’ mean. This year, we have changed the letters to form the words: ‘No New Br’ – ‘BR’ meaning Broken Republic,” Ismaili told Euronews Albania, explaining that this year’s message is therefore, Kosovo’s stance against a broken republic that although independent, is being torn apart on all fronts.
The message that Kosovo conveys to the world on this 15th anniversary of independence is that they no longer want a fragmented republic.
