The light at the end of the 6-km-long tunnel was finally visible to the naked eye on January 31, after 440 days of digging.
The government sees this project, which starts from Ura e Shen Elizes and ends at Palase, as the completion of the chain of all investments in the southern Riviera.
This investment tops the list of high-value projects that are built with internal financing. For the year 2023, he will grab 60 million euros, out of the 150 million it costs the whole thing.
The road started in the middle of 2022 and the government promises to officially inaugurate it, not in August, as the contract stipulates, but on June 1 of next year.
This route will shorten the distance to Saranda, for anyone who does not choose to go through the Llogara Pass, by about 45 minutes.
The new road will undoubtedly add to the development of tourism and trade in southern Albania.
