The European Union announced that it has sent €80 million euros to Albania.

The money is for the energy sector, so that our country can alleviate the crisis that started at the end of 2021 with rising prices and a lack of production. This grant was announced earlier, by the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Lejen, when she visited Tirana at the December 6 summit.

The 80 million euro fund is part of the 500 million euro package for the 6 countries of the Western Balkans, where Serbia benefits from 165 million, North Macedonia 80, Kosovo 75, Bosnia Herzegovina 70 and Montenegro 30 million.

The inclusion of the Western Balkans in the mitigating measures of the EU for the consequences of the energy crisis, was made according to the additional aid structures, in the conditions when the countries of the region have different levels of relationship in membership with the European Union. This is only the first package of aid which will be used to help the states in compensating for high prices, while a second package worth 500 million euros will be provided in the future for projects in the energy sector.
