Since the entry into force of the law, there have been 35 requests to the Committee of Strategic Investments to obtain the status of a strategic investment.
25 of these requests were approved, while 10 were rejected.
11 of these 25 requests received the status of “Strategic investment, special procedure”, and 13 others received the status of “Strategic investment, assisted procedure”.
In the government’s decision, 6 strategic sectors are announced, where the investments that would benefit from the status would be focused.
The energy and mining sector, transport, electronic communications infrastructure and urban waste, tourism, agriculture and fishing, technological areas as well as priority development areas.
But in an observation made by Euronews Albania, it appears that most of the permits that have benefited from the status of strategic investor have been granted for projects in the tourism sector. Then in second place are the projects given to agricultural farms and then investments in other sectors of the economy.
