Tourism Minister Mirela Kumbaro revealed in an interview for Euronews Albania from Tokyo, the reason why she is part of the delegation accompanying Prime Minister Rama to Japan.

Kumbaro said that the aim is to attract Japanese tourists to our country. The Minister of Tourism described Japanese tourists as the most coveted in the market, as they travel often and spend a lot. She added that since Albania is a distant destination for the Japanese, it will be offered as part of the tours for the Balkans.

“Japan is a very interesting market, Japanese tourists are known as tourists that are sought after by all world tourism markets. The first because they travel a lot and the second because they are tourists who spend. Until 2019, we had an increase in the number of Hispanic tourists, somewhere around 7 thousand tourists a year. With a drastic drop in 2019-2020, it is understood that it recovered in 2022, but that we are still far from what we can attract from the Japanese market. Since it is a remote country, Albania is not only promoted as a unique destination, but as a part of the Balkans. Japanese tourists have been visiting Croatia, Greece and Slovenia for years, but Albania was not on their itinerary,” said Kumbaro.
