The Prime Minister in charge of Montenegro, at the same time the chairman of the URA Party, Dritan Abazovic, declared that the President of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, will withdraw from the political scene even though he has announced his candidacy for the presidential elections that are expected to take place on March 19.

Asked by journalists about Djukanovic’s withdrawal this year, Abazovic said that he stands by his statements and that everything will be clear by May 20, when the new president will be inaugurated, writes Vijesti.

“I think it’s over one way or another. Everyone chooses their own path. That’s it, I would have no additional comment. What I promised the citizens happened. I responsibly claim that this year will be a year of stabilization and we must pass another section. We’ve already been through a lot. Many things should happen that are good for the country”, Abazovic told reporters in the Assembly. According to Avazovic, there can be no political stability in Montenegro without Djukanovic withdrawing from politics. URA must decide this week whether to field or support a candidate in the upcoming presidential elections.
