The former Minister of Justice, Etilda Gjonaj, also secretary of the SP for women, in an interview for Euronews Albania, said that the number of women convicted has increased.
Gjonaj requested that when it comes to crimes committed by women, the approach to the investigation should be more comprehensive, knowing that in most cases women are victims of crimes committed by them.
“Together with some women MPs, we were two days ago the number of women in the Ali Demi Penitentiary Institute, prison 325. What is unfortunate is that the number of women there had increased and this does not serve a very good criminal policy.
The law is equal for everyone, but a more comprehensive approach is needed when investigating criminal offenses committed by women, knowing that they are often victims of criminal offenses they may have committed”, said Gjonaj.
