The American DEA goes to those countries where there is drug trafficking, this is how the former senior manager Shemsi Prenci said this Friday in Euronews, while commenting on the establishment of the DEA office in Tirana.
He said that the establishment of the DEA in Albania is a good omen for Albania, but not for the Albanian law enforcement bodies, as it shows that the institutions are unreliable.
“We have failed in the operations to attack the circulation of hard drugs in Albania. We caught the drugs, but we didn’t catch either the receivers of the goods or the senders of the goods. In this perspective, the DEA has had an uncertainty in relation to cooperation with the law enforcement bodies in Albania. Recently, two programs of the Albanian government, the fiscal amnesty and the legalization of cannabis cultivation, are no longer mentioned, because these two are the most serious problems in Albania. Drug trafficking and money laundering in Albania are making the Albanian economy an unfair competition. The installation of the American DEA office is a good omen for Albania and a bad omen for the law enforcement institutions in Albania”, said Shemsi Prenci to Euronews.
