Connections with the Albanian mafia, wiretapping and corrupt and criminal activities could bring down the president of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso.

Two days ago, the media in Ecuador published several interceptions that implicated the country’s president in corrupt activities. the intercepts contained conversations between two Ecuadorian police generals, Giovanni Ponce and Mauro Vargas, who were trying to close a relationship with the name “The Great Godfather” in order to save the country’s president from possible impeachment.

This report, according to the local media, contained information about corrupt and criminal affairs involving President Lasso’s brother-in-law, Danilo Carrera, who is also known as the great godfather.

Among other things, Carrero is accused of strong ties with Albanian mafia groups, while the local media write that the president of Ecuador was financed by these groups for the presidential campaign in 2021 with 1.5 million dollars.

A commission set up specifically for this issue in Ecuador demanded the dismissal of President Kassi due to his possible involvement in a corruption network. The Commission has also requested that in the plenary session of the National Assembly, President Lasso be called to answer these accusations.
