The former chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Kristaq Kume, says that the name of former prime minister Sali Berisha will not be on the ballot in the local elections on May 14.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Kume stated that this does not happen because the name of the coalition and not the political party will appear on the 17 sheets.

“It will not appear on the ballot. It would not appear on the ballot even if it was registered as a subject. Only the coalition and not its constituent parties are written on the ballot paper. This is for me, it can be understood as such, the CEC recognized the party led by Enkelejd Alibeaj, as they also accepted, and not the part of the Democratic Party that came out with the governing bodies from the Assembly of December 11”, he emphasized.
