After the signing of the decision on the liberalization of visas by the European Parliament, citizens of Kosovo can travel abroad to the countries of the Schengen area from January 1 of the next year. This decision, although delayed, was welcomed by the citizens of Pristina. Some fear mass emigration of the youth after visa liberalization.

VOX POP – CITIZENS

1-WOMAN: It is a very good thing for the citizens of Kosovo. They have been waiting for a long time even though not all of them had the opportunity to travel abroad. At least, now we can.

2-MAN: Yes, considering how much we pay to get visas this is a fantastic news, finally. The only country in the Western Balkans that has not had the opportunity to travel is us.

3-MAN: It is a good decision, but it should have been taken much earlier. I believe that in the year 2024-2024 there may be a very large departure of youth. But I think that there (in EU countries) it is not like they dream. I think that youth live very well in Pristina and Kosovo.

4-MAN: People will be free to travel according to their wishes, or according to jobs, students, businessmen. It is a very delayed decision, but it is welcomed.

5-MAN: It is a delayed decision. Others have been traveling visa-free in Europe for over 10 years. But it is better late, than never. I wish the youth a good trip, but also the return…

Kosovo was the last country in the Western Balkans that had a visa regime for the countries of the Schengen area.
