The Ministerial Committee of the Council of Europe has decided to pass the request for Kosovo’s membership to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
The prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, also reacted to the news, through a post on social networks that this decision means that Kosovo will successfully pass the first phase of membership in the Council of Europe.
“The Committee of Ministers of the member states, today supported Kosovo’s application to the Council of Europe with two or three of the necessary votes, concluding the first phase of our Republic’s full membership in this important international organization.
Our country will be an added value for the Council of Europe. The Council of Europe will add value to democracy, human rights and the rule of law in our country.
I thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Minister Gërvalla, Deputy Minister Ahmeti and their teams for their continuous work, as well as our partners and member states, for their unstinting support”, writes Kurti.
