Ahead of the May 2nd meeting between the Serbia’s president and Kosovo’s prime minister, American and European diplomacy increases pressure on parties.

Derek Chollet, Counselor of the US State Department spoke today with Aleksandar Vučić. Chollet hopes for a constructive meeting between both leaders.

“Essential conversation today with president Vučić. We agreed on strengthening the US-Serbia partnership, with special focus on the dialogue, as well as the urgent need to create the Community of Serb Municipalities,” wrote Chollet in Twitter.

EU officials have now confirmed that the meeting will be focused on presenting the draft statute of the Community, compiled by the Managing Team.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti earlier declared that this team and what the statute includes, is unknown of.

Kurti expressed commitment to compile a draft of his own, but the EU insists it is the job of the Managing Team.

The Serbian President has assured that the Team will present a statute for the Community creation, but has no high hopes that the other party will accept it.
