The devaluation of the Euro currency is harming a lot of Albanian businesses that do foreign trade. For that reason, they request from the central Bank and the Ministry of Finances to take measures.

In a written letter by the association of different sectors, it is mentioned that this phenomenon cannot be allowed to “free fall”, under justifications that everything is determined by the market.

“The devaluation of Euro greatly harms the production industry, exports and tourism, by leading a lot of subjects to bankruptcy. The negative effects on the local market will be long term and will be impossible to compensate for with some temporary positive effects,” they argue in the letter.

Furthermore, businesses address the authorities with 4 requests, asking for an investigation and detailed analysis on the phenomenon.

The euro is currently trading at historic lows. Its falling started from March of last year, when 1 euro traded for 127 Albanian lek, whereas today it has reached a trading level of 110 lek.
