Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti met with the EU Special Representative for the dialogue, Miroslav Lajčák.
The meeting in Delphi came after Kurti’s participation in the yearly Economic Forum, hosted by the Greek president.
Both officials discussed the next high-level meeting between Kosovo and Serbia on May 2nd in Brussel.
Kurti and Lajčák also talked about agreements reached in earlier meetings between parties.
Another topic of interest were the elections held in the north of Kosovo last weekend, as well as the importance of ensuring normal functionality of state institutions.
Lajčák wrote on Twitter about the need to have a constructive meeting on May 2nd.
“It will be a crucial step forward and it’s important to avoid any actions that could worsen the atmosphere,” says the EU official.
Earlier this week, EU spokesperson Peter Stano confirmed the meeting between Albin Kurti and Aleksandar Vučić. The agenda includes approving the Declaration on missing persons and a presentation of the first draft on the statute for establishing the Community of Serb Municipalities.
Stano refused to comment on Serbia’s criticism towards the elections in the north of Kosovo, as well as Belgrade’s opposition to Kosovo becoming part of the Council of Europe.
The EU, according to Stano, expects both parties to fulfill their obligations.
Both Kurti and Vučić have confirmed they’ll be part of the meeting. It comes at a time where Kosovo accuses Serbia of breaching the Agreement towards normalization, reached earlier this month.
Serbia, on the other hand, voted against Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe, despite committing not to hinder the country’s international acceptance, as foreseen in the Agreement towards normalization.
