The removal of Hasan Prishtina’s name from the University of Pristina in Kosovo, has been met with harsh reactions.

Author Shefqet Hoxha called it an unprecedented decision.

“The people of Kosovo and Kukës will not accept this fatal mistake. My name is Shefqet Hoxha and I came all the way from Tirana, because I am touched by this unprecedented act. Removing the name of Hasan Prishtina! He is buried in Kukës. His name should categorically not be removed,” he said.

Meanwhile Hasan Prishtina’s nephew, Mehmet called the university’s rector statement an excuse.

“As representative of the Hasan Prishtina Foundation, I’m here to oppose the rector’s initiative to remove the name. His reasoning is that the issue causes problems in the internationals’ reaction towards scientific studies. We are saying ‘stop’ to the rector, don’t remove the name,” Prishtina declared.
