Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha held a press conference this Tuesday, where he commented on Prime Minister’s Edi Rama declarations regarding relations between citizens of the region.

Berisha condemned Rama’s speech that Serbs and Albanians are cousins. He called it “anti-Albanian” and said that it legitimates Serbian claims over Albanian territories.

“I strongly condemn the anti-Albanian declaration of Edi Rama in Athens. For the first time in the entire history of the Balkans and the world, an irresponsible person declares that Albanians and Serbs are cousins. To justify his betrayal to the Albanian people, he steps over hundreds of thousands killed by Serbian barbarism. He calls Serbian genocides as genocides committed between cousins. Edi Rama seeks to legitimize every claim Serbia has on Albanian territories. He seeks to obliviate all Serbian barbarisms, undermining history and the truth, with a formula by Belgrade, to say it out loud in Athens. On what basis? Only on vassalage and nothing else. Albanians and Serbs are not cousins. Albanians have been here ever since the inception of earth. Serbs, according to their own history, came here in the 6th century. This is a condemnable act and I also condemn his implication in electoral campaigns in other countries. May 14th is the day of no return for Rama’s departure once and for all from politics. He’s the biggest thief Albanians have known in their history,” concluded Berisha.
