The Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo has filed another indictment in absentia against the defendant with the initials Ç.A. He is accused of war crimes committed during the war in Kosovo.
“The accused, in the time period from January to May 1999, cooperating with a group of criminal people (so far unidentified), organized, dressed in police, paramilitary, military uniforms, committed the criminal offense ‘War crime against the civilian population’,” says the announcement of the Special Prosecutor’s Office.
The Special Prosecution has proposed to the court that the trial be held in absentia, since “all efforts to find the accused have been exhausted”.
On May 2nd, the Special Prosecutor’s Office filed an indictment against another person, with the initials D.R, suspected of sexually assaulting a woman during the war in Kosovo.
This was the first indictment filed in the absence of the accused.
