Pro-Russian parties in Montenegro initiate the withdrawal of recognition of Kosovo.
The pro-Russian Democratic Front, which has absolute power in the municipality of Zeta, has made a decision to approve a declaration, with which, as its representatives said, the recognition of Kosovo’s independence will not be valid in that territory.
The Municipality of Zeta, which is the new municipality in Montenegro and is located in the uninhabited surroundings of the Montenegrin capital, Podgorica, will express its opinion on this document at the last session of May.
The independence of Kosovo was recognized by the Government of Montenegro in 2008, when Milo Djukanovic’s Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) was in power, which in August 2020 lost the elections to the pro-Serb and pro-Russian Democratic Front, the Democrats and ‘Lëvizja Ura’.
