The Serbian Minister of Education, Branko Ružić resigned from his post, after the mass shooting in a primary school in Belgrade, where 8 children and the school guard were killed.
Ružić posted the letter he sent to the Prime Minister of Serbia, in which he says that he “offered his resignation immediately after the tragedy occurred”.
“Resigning is a personal as well as a political act. In developed democratic societies, it is a sign of power, whereas in our region it is oftentimes a sign of weakness. Let the public be the judge,” writes Ružić in his letter.
He said Serbia must stand united in pain and war, so that “the good can conquer evil and justice can defeat injustice”.
On another note, the Syndicate of Teachers in Serbia announced they will stop their strike, after the tragedy in the “Vladislav Ribnikar” school in Belgrade.
All members of the syndicate will return to classes according to their schedules, starting from Monday.
The syndicate ask state authorities to do everything in their power, so that this tragedy is never repeated in Serbia.
