Prime Minister Edi Rama said in “Now” on Euronews Albania that Erion Veliaj has already won the elections as the mayor of Tirana and that is a closed issue.

Asked if he sees Erion Veliaj as his successor at the head of the Socialist Party, Rama said that this topic does not interest him and that the new leader will be chosen by the members of the Socialist Party when they need a new leader.

Edi Rama: This is not a topic that has ever interested me. Many people tell me what about the successor? I think this is not my task, this will be the task of those who will need another leader when I am no longer there. They will choose those who want to continue and they will choose the leader. I will not choose it.

Erla Mëhilli: Will you vote for Mr. Veliaj for president?

Edi Rama: We are not there yet. I will be a simple member of the Socialist Party and I will participate in the vote, but who will be our leader after me, we will decide this when we need another leader.
