14 people have been arrested for trafficking a load of 105 kg of cocaine in the container with bananas which was seized on May 9 in Thessaloniki.

Three of the arrested persons are Albanians, seven from Greece and four others from North Macedonia.

The police authorities of North Macedonia report that the load of cocaine was discovered as a result of several months of information and investigations.

It is suspected that the persons involved of trafficking 105 kg of cocaine are members of an organized international criminal group.

It is also known that the load of cocaine was provided by Ecuador and then its transportation was carried out to the port of Thessaloniki.

The cocaine arrived hidden in three containers and was ordered and paid by a commercial entity in Skopje.

Some of the suspects tried to leave through the border between Greece and North Macedonia.

The police have carried out inspections in the homes and businesses of the persons involved in this criminal activity and have seized mobile phones, monetary amounts and other items which will serve as material evidence for the investigative group.
