The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Europe, Olta Xhaçka, has reacted to the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Nikos Dendias, who stated that the decision to arrest the candidate of the “Together We Win” coalition for the municipality of Himara, Fredi Beleri, was scandalous.
Through a post on Twitter, Xhaçka calls on the Greek state to refrain from statements that do not respect the independent institutions of our country.
“It is almost impossible to understand how our friends, Greece, have the right to oppose court’s decision in our country, when the hard evidence they were looking for is very clear. Fredi Beleri has been caught on criminal activity against free and fair elections. We do not understand how being of Greek nationality can exclude him from the law as a citizen of Albania. We call on our Greek friends to refrain from statements that do not respect the independent institutions of our country”, writes Xhaçka.
In the statement of the Greek Foreign Ministry, it is also stated that decisions like today’s show that Albania is not following the path of the state of law, nor the European one.
