Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis has once again commented on the arrest of Fredi Beleri, the “Together We Win” coalition candidate for the municipality of Himara.
In an interview to the Greek media, Mitsotakis sent a harsh message to his Albanian counterpart, Edi Rama.
The Greek PM said that if Tirana continues to violate minority rights, it will harm the bilateral relations between the two countries.
“I will not tolerate such behavior at the expense of the Greeks. It is unacceptable and unimaginable what happened to Fredi Beleri. I went to Himara, I was the first prime minister to visit the region and I pledged that Greece will always remain helpful towards the ethnic Greek minority. I clarified this to the Albanian PM. Albania should know that if it will continue with such policies, it will affect our bilateral relations, as well as its EU integration path. I will not accept such stances at the expense of the minority, especially 48 hours ahead of the elections. We had declared support for Albania’s EU integration, but this incident will have serious effects,” said Mitsotakis.
