Socialist Party officials celebrated their triumph in the three municipalities where the counting process has ended.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj declared that their victory in the municipality of Vora is a clear message.
“For two decades, we hadn’t won Vora. It was a stronghold of the democrats, used as a deposit where buses were filled for protests. Vora gave us a message that we must move forward. I want to thank Blerim Shera. This is a totally renewed Socialist Party. We were given a record-breaking trust by the people, with 75% of their votes,” said Veliaj.
The Organizational Secretary of the SP, Damian Gjiknuri came in to support their winning candidate in Elbasan, Gledian Llatja, who was confirmed mayor for another mandate.
“We’ve obtained one of the most historical victories in Elbasan. We had the best candidate and the best team. We had the calmest campaign. You deserve this victory,” said Gjiknuri.
Rakip Suli who came out victorious in the race for Kamza, said that the citizens buried the “non grata” politics, referring to Sali Berisha.
“Kamza has men and women, boys and girls, who gave the clear message that Albania isn’t the property of any political party. Today Kamza politically buried the ‘non grata’, who betrayed them for 30 years,” Suli told Euronews Albania.
The “Together We Win” coalition candidate, Bardh Spahia earlier claimed victory in the municipality of Shkodra. However, the political leader of this district from the SP, Elisa Spiropali reminded him to take Kamza as an example.
“Bardh, take a look at the result in Kamëz, breathe and be prepared,” Spiropali said in a Facebook post.
The SP political leader of the Fier district, Taulant Balla spoke about the socialists’ expectations. Even though there was a lower turnout compared to previous years, Balla said that they expect victory with over 60% of the votes in every municipality.
“Our expectations are for a historical result. I want to say that we will confirm our victory in Fier. Truth is, we expect a very good result,” declared Balla.
