Erion Veliaj reconfirmed Mayor of Tirana, winning the election by a landslide

Erion Veliaj will serve a third mandate as Mayor of Tirana.

With the counting process officially over, Central Election Committee data show that Veliaj has won by a landslide, with 158,688 votes in total, or 54,69%.

Second in the race came “Together We Win” coalition candidate, Belind Këlliçi, who gathered a total of 100,351 votes, or 34,58%.

There is a difference of 58,337 votes in favor of Veliaj, compared to Këlliçi.

Veliaj managed to score a sweeping victory even in areas considered as Democrat strongholds, and results show that he also got the majority even in Këlliçi’s voting zone.

According to the final Euronews Albania poll regarding the local elections, Veliaj was projected to win with 54,4% of the vote (with a poll margin error of ±2), whereas Këlliçi was projected to get 37,1% of the vote.

In other relevant data from the CEC, Arlind Qori came third in the race for Tirana, with 13,835 votes in total, or 4,77%, leaving the Democratic Party candidate Roland Bejko in fourth place, with 12,388 votes in total, or 4,27%.
