The “Together We Win” coalition candidate for the municipality of Durrës spoke after his defeat in the local elections.

Igli Cara took to Facebook to thank all citizens who voted for him, while saying that the negative result was influenced by many factors.

Cara argues that these elections showed how the will of the citizens can be altered.

“Grateful to all citizens who supported and voted for me in these elections! Thankful to every democrat, oppositionist, supporter who was part of the voting and counting process, surpassing all difficulties and being there to give value to each vote. The result was influenced by many factors, and showed that the citizens’ will can be conditioned, controlled and altered, in the name of development, to concentrate the power into one hand, which robs the day for sunshine, and misuses national treasures and public funds. Durrës continues to be our big family which brings us together. I will continue looking at my friends, colleagues and citizens in the eye, shaking their hands. My relation to this city and honesty is to me an uncompromised choice. Thank you,” writes Cara.
