The Special Anti-Corruption Structure will investigate Fredi Beleri.

The “Together We Win” coalition candidate, now elected mayor for the Municipality of Himara, was arrested two days ahead of the local elections, accused of active corruption in the elections.

In the related file, it is said that the investigation started on May 8th. Information was provided to the police that a group of people in the area of Himara, including Beleri, gave between 50 to 200 euros in exchange for votes.

A man with the initials A. R. collaborated with the Prosecutor’s Office of Vlora. He had contacts with Beleri, to ensure votes for him in exchange for money.

The infiltrated met with Beleri to provide him with a list of 13 persons, promising that they would vote for the “Together We Win” candidate.

Their meetings were kept under surveillance and recorded by civilian agents of the State Police, until Beleri’s collaborator gave money to the infiltrated, which then led to Beleri’s in flagrante capture by the police.

The Prosecutor’s Office verified communications through the expertise of cellphones that were seized during the arrest.

Beleri’s file is now in the hands of the Special Anti-Corruption Structures. He is expected to appear before court in a few days, where the prison sentence imposed on him by the Court of Vlora will be reassessed.
