The Basic Court in Tetovo has sentenced the anesthesiologist Valton Dervishi to one year and three months in prison for publishing a recording from the Department of Gynecology in Tetovo, where he was employed.

Dervishi was convicted for the crimes of “negligent work in the service” and “unauthorized recording”.

He admitted his guilt before the jury and asked for forgiveness for the crime he committed.

He was sent to the court from the prison in Skopje, where he has been serving the measure of detention.

The complaint regarding the recording and publication of the video on the TikTok application was made by the director of the Tetova Hospital, Pëllumb Vela, who described the doctor’s act as “unacceptable”.

The incident took place on April 14, while the doctor was on the job at the Tetova Hospital.

The managers of the hospital, in an urgent procedure, have decided to remove the doctor from work, while the Chamber of Doctors of North Macedonia has also taken away his work license.

This case has caused numerous reactions in the public opinion, as urgent measures have been requested from the relevant institutions to prevent such publications that violate people’s privacy.
