Albanian Electricity Corporation continues to sell energy, recovering the loss of last year. Only in the month of May, 11.8 million euros were added to the institution’s coffers.

In this period, AEC has not bought megawatt of energy on the foreign market.

Hydropower plants of Drin have not only covered local needs, but a large amount of energy has been sold abroad.

This month, AEC collected 11.8 million euros in three different auctions, selling electricity at an average price of 65 euros.

Electricity produced a general crisis last year due to drought and high prices, where the country was forced to spend about 450 million euros to keep it running.

But since the middle of November, when the seasonal rains started, Drini has had enough water to get out of the crisis, but the AEC auctions have recovered the finances, but not enough to equalize the losses of the previous year.

Albania is investing in the energy sector to become an independent country, but to achieve this it will take another 6 or 7 years.
