Plastic bags are not allowed to be used in Albania since a year. But, law does not seem to be enforced, as many businesses and citizens continue to exchange goods with the prohibited bags.

For this reason, government warns of harsh punitive measures for law breakers and not just awareness campaigns.

The Minister of Tourism, Mirela Kumbaro, and the Minister of Finance, Delina Ibrahimaj, have agreed to cooperate to combat their use, increasing controls with the involvement of the municipal police.

From December to April of this year, the Task Force carried out 2500 inspections and took 7 administrative measures.
