“Our ornaments” was the activity organized in the Archaeological Park of Antigone, Gjirokaster, which enlivened the area and served as the opening of the tourist season.

The site of ancient Antigone constitutes a special historical and archaeological value, while in recent years it has become a favorite destination for tourism.

A lot of activities took place, promoting folk values, cultural heritage, as well as the opening of a photo exhibition.

“Drino Valley carries a lot of wealth, but the greatest wealth is that of the human monument. In this area, many communities live together, we give and take, but we still maintain our identity. In the most archaic way today we have revealed the most inherited values ​​over the centuries. The mosaic of values ​​of Gjirokastra, Labëria, Lunxëria, Libohova, Dropulli together make the monument of Albanian wonders, especially that of the Drino valley where we live”, says Shkëlqim Guçe, director of Antigone Archaeological Park.

The archaeological city of Antigone rises on the hill of Jerma, on the right side of the middle course of the Drino river, in the southwest of the village of Saraqinishte in the district of Gjirokastra.

Antigone was formed as a large and important economic, social, cultural and political center from the beginning of the century. III BC, was one of the biggest cities of that time.
