The oil production company in the Patos-Marinza oilfield, Bankers Petroleum Albania continues to dominate customs revenues from royalties.
During the first three months of this year, Bankers has paid to the Albanian government over 6 million USD in royalty tax, thus accounting for about 80% of the total revenue from customs royalty. According to the official data of the General Directorate of Customs, during the months January-March 2023, a total of about 827 Million Lek or about 7.7 Million Dollars royalties was paid to the Albanian customs.
Even during the last year, the official figures confirm that Bankers has dominated the customs revenue. In total in 2022, the company paid about 29 million dollars in royalties while the total revenue from this tax was 37 million dollars. Bankers’ share remains the same as in 2023, about 80%.
During the first three months of this year, Bankers has paid a total of over US$ 14.2 million in taxes to the central government and local government. Most of it are royalty payments, including the transfer of pre-existing production to the state oil company Albpetrol.
Official sources of the company confirm that an unstoppable increase is being recorded year after year in taxes that go to the local governments where it operates. During this year 1.65 million dollars were paid in taxes to local government, almost twice the same period last year.
In total, since the beginning of its activity in Albania in 2004, the company Bankers has paid a total of 900 million dollars in taxes and duties.
