The former US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Richard Grenell, is in Tirana this Thursday, where he held a meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The news was made public by Grenell through a post on Twitter, where he clarified one of the topics of the discussion he had at lunch with Rama.

Grenell underlines that he agreed with the Albanian prime minister that more should be done to free former president Hashim Thaçi from unjust imprisonment in The Hague.

“I had lunch with Prime Minister Edi Rama from our great NATO ally Albania and we agreed that more must be done to free Hashim Thaci from his 3 years of prison by The Hague. The charges against him are phony and the witnesses are saying they’ve been manipulated by Jack Smith,” writes Grenell.
