The head of the Serb List Goran Rakić asked Serbian authorities to discontinue the dialogue with Kosovo, until “all special forces have retreated”.

“We ask President Vučić and the Government to discontinue or suspend any kind of dialogue until the withdrawal of all special forces of the Kosovo Police,” said Rakić during a press conference on May 27th.

The request follows the clashes between local Serbs in the north of Kosovo with State Police officers.

The Serb List, the biggest party of Serbs in Kosovo, also demanded that the special units of the Kosovo Police withdraw from municipal buildings, calling the new elected Albanian mayors “illegal”.

During the press conference, Rakić reiterated his party’s stance that Serbs will not return to Kosovo’s institutions until the conditions earlier presented by them are met; namely the establishment of the Association of Serb Municipalities and the withdrawal of special units from the north.

The Serbs resigned from all institutions in Kosovo in November last year due to displeasure over the decision of Kosovo’s Government to carry out with the process of re-registration of cars will illegal Serbian license plates.

They even boycotted the April partial elections, where Albanian mayors were voted.
