Lulzim Basha met with a group of Democrats in Tirana this Saturday, to answer all questions and curiosities, as he will now do with all members of the political democratic family.
“I will never be part of the mudslinging, even though they have resumed with the same attacks, lies and deceptions. A road that goes through the old politics of mudslinging, accusations and trivialization of any public debate can never bring change,” Basha told Democrats.
According to Basha, it is his obligation to dedicate himself to the real opposition that serves the people, because this is the only way there can be a real change of policy, focusing on the problems of the citizens, and not those of politicians.
“I took a step back because I did not want an internal war, convinced that only opponents benefit from it! And it was the right thing to do. But here we are, nothing has changed. The situation is even worse for Democrats and all Albanians,” said Basha.
Basha returned to the Albanian political scene this week, almost a year and a half away from active politics.
Asked if he would return as the leader of the Democratic Party, Basha answered that he is not yet campaigning about it, saying it is time to reflect on the reasons why the youth was uninterested in voting in the last local elections, and claiming the lack of political offers as the main reason behind it.
The historical leader of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha slammed Basha’s return in active politics, accusing him of being sold to Prime Minister Edi Rama to ruthlessly damage the Albanian opposition.
Basha however, responded to the accusation, blaming Berisha for the disastrous result in the local elections, by placing his personal interests above those of the Democrats, sowing division between them.
