Ambassador Yuri Kim met today with the High Judicial Council, in Albania, to thank them for their cooperation over the past three and a half years.
She reaffirmed strong US support for the HJC and other justice institutions and called on the members of the HJC to fulfill their duties with integrity and independence.
She asked the HJC to fill the remaining three positions in the Supreme Court with the most qualified judges as soon as possible. She also emphasized the US’s expectation that the HJC select judges of integrity and professional ability for the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime and the lower courts.
“It is time to break away from the old ways. The justice reform must continue to be implemented so that Albania can move forward and officials must act with integrity despite threats and incitements,” said Ambassador Kim at the HJC.
