Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić met with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama Thursday on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit being held in Chișinău, Moldova.

Vučić took to his Facebook account to share what he and Rama discussed.

“We in the region know best how important it is to jointly make every effort to preserve the hard-won peace and stability. We discussed current events and further steps that would contribute to finding a solution to the current difficult and serious situation, with the hope that reason will prevail for the benefit of all,” Vučić said, while part of the discussion was also North Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovačevski.

Prime Minister Rama also took to his Facebook account to share what the leaders discussed.

“The region must enter into a new relationship with the European Union, while the conflict in north Kosovo must be resolved side by side with the democratic world, putting an end to the threatening absurdity and finalizing the normalization and mutual recognition agreement between Kosovo and Serbia,” wrote Rama.

A day ago, Prime Minister Rama was in Bratislava, as one of the speakers of the GLOBSEC forum, where he declared that the Serbian army in the border with Kosovo has a power that equals zero.

Rama was also critical to Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti for insisting to forcedly install the newly elected Albanian mayors in the Serb-majority municipalities in the north, saying that these mayors do not represent the entirety of the population inhabiting these regions.

On the other hand, President Vučić told CNN in an interview Wednesday, that Serbia has complied with all international obligations stemming from the Brussel Agreement, while Kosovo has not yet done anything for the creation of the Association of Serb Municipalities in the north.

“We act in adherence with Kumanovo Agreement, we did not enter the territory of Kosovo with one single soldier. We did not violate any international regulation. We have a very professional cooperation with NATO troops in the field,” Vučić said.

Asked how he comments on the protests in the north of Kosovo, the Serbian President highlighted that it is important to maintain peace.

“I know that those people are very determined to fight in a very peaceful way for their basic rights. They just want to have their own rights to live there. My small advice and plea for them is to always protest peacefully. I call on the international community for a decisive action to be taken against those who are stubborn and are actually escalating the situation in the ground,” concluded Vučić.
