Prime Minister Edi Rama has thanked the French President, Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the head of the EU’s Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, for the insistence and commitment shown to bring the President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani and the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to the negotiating table.

Through a post on Twitter, Rama emphasizes that he hopes that the requirements set by the European Union will be met by both sides so that the situation in the north of Kosovo will be de-escalated and Pristina and Belgrade will move towards the final agreement on mutual recognition.

“I cannot thank enough the President Emmanuel Macron and Chancellor Olaf Scholz for what they are doing to finalize the Kosovo-Serbia normalization process! To see them sit down so respectfully with both sides to try to resolve an absurd conflict says everything about their great European spirit. Thank you!

I also commend President Vjosa Osmani for speaking directly to President Aleksandar Vucic, and I truly hope that these three demands are met immediately so that this absurd conflict ends before it damages Kosovo’s reputation beyond its rapid repair and integration. further in the democratic community.

A big thanking to Josep Borrel for his passion and patience in helping to finally realize this historic development”, writes Rama.

We remind that the requirements set by the EU for the de-tensioning of the situation in the North consist of holding new local elections, ensuring the participation of Kosovo Serbs in the elections and starting work on the establishment of the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian Majority with dialogue facilitated by the European Union.
