Businesses in Gjirokastër take in students to fill vacancies of employees

The employment of young people in the tourism sector in Gjirokastër enables the development of a quality service in the stone city. While the tourism sector offers about 500 vacancies, there are young people, students or high school students, who meet the requirements to work as tour guides, tourist guides or artisan assistants in traditional crafts.

They state that the payments and conditions are satisfactory while they also contribute to the promotion of touristic values ​​of Gjirokastra.

“I currently work in the museum apartment of Ismail Kadare, I am employed, I am a new employee. It is something good for young people to stay in this city, to bring, to spread the culture of Gjirokastër, of our city, and it is also good for the economic side of the city that develops it even more and to bring human resources as well the economic capacity to grow our city even more,” said the curator at the museum, Arla Toro.

“This employment is a very good employment and the guides bring a good and satisfying income for my age,” said David Mamani on the other hand.

Throughout this year, Gjirokastra has welcomed around 50,000 tourists, who, among other things, are an important contributor to the development of the local economy and creation of new jobs.
