The lack of qualified workforce in many sectors in Vlora continues to be relevant even today, not only in the tourism sector.

While in the employment office the figures show a high number of job seekers, they are often not accepted by the business due to the lack of qualification.

“We currently have 2,938 unemployed job seekers and 1,427 job seekers, while in our database there are also 6,000 job seekers who have previously received service from us. I would highlight here the basic services where for this first 6 months we intend to provide professional training to about 443 unemployed jobseekers who benefit from this service for free,” said Saniela Xhaferraj, the director of the Labor Office in Vlora.

At the vocational training center, 25 courses for different professions are currently running.

“We have the most requests for hairdressers, estheticians, manicures, kitchens, electricians, while we have increasing requests for hotels, bars, restaurants, pizzerias that the market demands, seeing that the city of Vlora is gaining a great touristic development,” said the director of the Vocational Training Center, Ergys Alushi.

In some of the courses offered at the center, the demands are high, especially from women.

“The demands are very high and continue to be, because the teaching is of a very good level, the girls have the opportunity to open their own business and to be employed in an aesthetic center. From the age of 16, I have also had requests from 56 years old, so they come from different ages, the girls are very interested, we have seen the results in years,” said the instructor, Rudina Gori.

“Students from different branches, language-literature, law, economics, are interested. There were trainees who were also employed. There were also boys, I am not in this group, but there were also interested boys, said the instructor of the Secretariat, Alketa Mucohasanaj.

Lack of professionalism has oriented businesses, mainly tourism businesses, to hire foreign employees even though they have higher costs.
