The “Greek Cultural Weekend” brought to Gjirokastra a variety of activities, which included the promotion of traditional and cultural values of Greece as well as the promotion and strengthening of cultural cooperation between the two countries.
Group of popular songs and dances “Loutsa” of Ioannina, well-known artists of Greek music, the dance group of the girls of Dropulli, the polyphonic group of Kolonje, etc. have performed for art lovers and foreign tourists in the surroundings of the characteristic Pazar, bringing a weekend special in the stone city.
“This is a cultural diplomacy, and cultural diplomacy is stronger than political diplomacy, that is, these cultural ties unite, bring people closer to each other. Because when we get up in the morning before looking at the sun, we look at the gitone, and we have to have good relations with the gitone, we have to keep them close, if groups come there, we go there too. In this way, a connection is made, the friendly ties between our countries are strengthened, especially since we are in border areas”, stated the artistic manager, Stefan Arseni
“We are here to present an element of the local culture, of traditional Greece. We believe that art lovers will follow us with interest not only for the artistic values but also for the connection between our two countries, even more so for the cultural cooperation”, said a popular artist from the group from Janina.
“We come from Janina, I am a dancer of the artistic association “Loutsa” and this is the second time I am in Gjirokastër. It is a very special city and we really appreciate the characteristic buildings. For us, it is something beautiful that we are here and we will spend a pleasant evening together, with songs and dances”, said a dancer from the Janina group.
In these summer days, cultural activities, including those with the participation of foreign artists, are enlivening the city of Gjirokastra and attracting tourist groups.
